R-PVC vs PET-G Cards: Which Material Is Right for Your Project?

When choosing a material for an eco-friendly NFC or RFID card, R-PVC and PET-G are two common options. Both can be used for RFID cards, NFC cards and other smart card applications, but they differ in recycled content, material properties and project requirements.

R-PVC Card vs PET-G Card

R-PVC cards are made with recycled PVC material, making them a practical choice for projects that prioritize the use of recycled materials while maintaining the familiar PVC card format.

PET-G cards are made from PET-G, a chlorine-free material known for good durability, chemical resistance and stable performance. They are often selected when a project requires an alternative to conventional PVC materials.

The main difference is that R-PVC focuses on recycled material content, while PET-G focuses on material performance and PVC-free construction.

Application Case: Choosing the Right Eco-Friendly Card Material

A customer needed a batch of customized RFID cards for a membership and loyalty program. The project required full-color printing, RFID chip encoding and a more environmentally conscious material choice.

Two material options were evaluated:

Option 1 – R-PVC Card

R-PVC was selected when the customer wanted to incorporate recycled PVC into the card structure while keeping a familiar PVC card appearance and manufacturing process.

Option 2 – PET-G Card

PET-G was considered when the customer wanted a PVC-free material with good durability and a different material profile for the finished card.

The RFID chip, antenna design, printing and card dimensions could be customized for both options. The final material was selected according to the customer's environmental requirements, application and target cost.

Custom R-PVC and PET-G RFID/NFC Cards

For RFID and NFC card projects, material selection is only one part of the manufacturing process. Card structure, antenna design, chip selection, printing, encoding and finishing also affect the final product.

R-PVC and PET-G cards can both be produced with different RFID/NFC chip options and customized according to the application.

Typical applications include:

RFID membership cards

NFC loyalty cards

Access control cards

Event and identification cards

Retail and promotional cards

Eco-friendly RFID/NFC cards

R-PVC or PET-G: Which Should You Choose?

Choose R-PVC when recycled PVC content is an important part of your sustainability requirements.

Choose PET-G when you need a PVC-free card material with good durability and stable card performance.

There is no single material that is best for every project. The right choice depends on the required material specification, application, card structure, chip and environmental targets.

Factory Manufacturing for Customized RFID/NFC Cards

As a professional RFID/NFC card factory established in 2011, we provide R-PVC, PET-G and other card materials for OEM/ODM projects.

Services include material selection, RFID/NFC chip selection, antenna design, custom printing, chip encoding, personalization and roll or sheet packaging.

This allows customers to develop the card around their application requirements instead of being limited to a single standard material.
